Jason D. Lee was raised in the suburbs of Washington, DC and is the son of Jethro & Betty Lee. In 1996 after graduating from the University of Maryland Baltimore County as a Robert & Jane Meyerhoff Scholar, Mr. Lee attended graduate school at the University of Michigan Ann Arbor where he majored in Mechanical and Manufacturing Engineering as a GEM and Tauber Manufacturing Institute Fellow. Jason began his career at Ford Motor Company in 1998 where he obtained diverse and extensive experience in Ford’s Manufacturing and Product Development divisions. In 2004, he accepted the position as Detroit Area Pre-College Engineering Program (DAPCEP) Executive Director through the Ford Motor Company executive loan program. In 2007, Jason made a decision to pursue his passion and transitioned from Ford Motor Company to become the 1st DAPCEP Executive Director employed by the non-profit corporation in its 31 year history.

DAPCEP provides over 5,000 young people educational opportunities and exposure to Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM) fields. Through the work of Jason and his team, DAPCEP is creating the next generation of technical professionals for Metropolitan Detroit, the State of Michigan and the Nation.

Jason’s involvement in the community extends beyond his work at the DAPCEP Executive Director. Through his volunteer work with 100 Black Men of Greater Detroit, Big Brothers Big Sisters and the ACES program, he works to open the doors of opportunity for deserving youth.

Family is the top priority in Jason’s life; outside of his work and community responsibilities, he enjoys spending time with his wife Nicole Howard Lee and their daughter Sydney in and around their Southfield, MI home. A self proclaimed urban outdoorsman, Jason enjoys mountain biking, paint ball and an occasional game of golf or tennis.

On November 26th, 2007 at 9:14 pm, Jason welcomed the newest edition to his family.  Jordan Damani Lee weighs in at 7.7 lbs and 20 inches.
