Economic Development Training Seminar

The Economic Development Committee's (EDC) gives support to GMAC's Smart Edge. Smart Edge is a financial education program aimed at helping people with making more informed personal financial decisions.    The seminars covered personal budgets, credit, and share how these items can help you negotiate better when applying for credit or a loan.  The seminars also discussed the credit scoring process and helped attendees unlock that mystery. Facilitator Don Ferguson, of GMAC, trained 100BM members, family and friends to be ambassadors for the program.  "Several more seminars for the community are planned now that we have trained personnel to facilitate" says Ferguson. photos click here

Membership Increases!
2009_induction.jpgPresident Bill Middlebrooks welcomed six new members to the Detroit Chapter of 100.  Bill says "our newest members have met all the requirements set forth by the Membership Committee, led by Julian Pate".  He then asked member Dennis Archer to administer the oath of 100 to Michael Abney, William Burrell, Kyle Chandler, Larry Givens, Kevin Harrison and Terrance Thomas.  We ask that all members reach out to these newcomers and welcome them to "mentoring the 100 way".  Each member gave testimony why he had become a member of 100. "Wanting to give back" and "providing avenues of success for our children" seemed to be the central theme. Click here to see photos of ceremony.
